Study Web Development
It’s needless to say that the computer powered revolution has left every area of society untouched which leaves businesses both big and small seeking to enter into the web arena and that provides us with a surplus of opportunities online.
I believe that it is so important to study web development. The knowledge of being able to code has opened up many doors for me personally, like creating various online businesses which I’ve always been passionate about.
My online journey began a short while ago and I’ve never looked back. I believe that being able to code has the potential to change your life – it completes you like the ‘B’ to a BLT sandwich!
Choosing Studying Web Development:
STAGGERING DEMAND: There is an EVER INCREASING demand for web developers. Businesses are always on a lookout for good web developers and the best part is that this demand is only going to grow in the future.
WORK FLEXIBILITY: You can work as a freelancer, part-time, full time, for yourself, from home or even while on a holiday in the Bahamas! The freedom that a developer enjoys is amazing.
GOOD MOOLA: And guess what? It pays well too! Often a few hours of work are rewarded with a high pay which makes it extremely worthwhile and a very sought after career choice.
QUALIFICATION: Isn’t it quite liberating that college degrees are not always required. You do not always need an advanced computer science degree to become a web developer. You are hired based on your knowledge and the portfolio of your websites. Your theory/knowledge will get you in the interview, let your work/portfolio get you the job.
FULFILMENT: It extends beyond the monetary gains and even beyond us. You have the potential of helping and impacting not only locally but also globally in ways greater than you can imagine!
If this isn’t convincing enough for you to start studying web development, read what some big names have to say about it:
“All of my friends who have younger siblings who are going to college or high school - my number one piece of advice is: you should learn how to program.”
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook
"Everything is moved forward by computers, and we don't have enough people who can code. You can learn skills at any age but why wait when we can teach everyone to code now!"
Richard Branson, Virgin Group
"Learning to write programs stretches your mind, and helps you think better, creates a way of thinking about things that I think is helpful in all domains."
Bill Gates, Microsoft
"I think everybody should learn how to program a computer because it teaches you how to think."
Steve Jobs, Apple
"Don't just play on your phone - program it."
Barack Obama, President
"For most people on Earth, the digital revolution hasn't even started yet. Within the next 10 years, all that will change. Let's get the whole world coding!"
Eric Schmidt, Google
“In fifteen years we'll be teaching programming just like reading and writing... and wondering why we didn't do it sooner.”
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook
“If you can program a computer, you can achieve your dreams. A computer doesn't care about your family background, your gender, just that you know how to code. But we're only teaching it in a small handful of schools, why?"
Dick Costolo, Twitter
"Learning to code will be a huge booster for your future, no matter what your professional plans may be."
Max Levchin, PayPal
Can you see that they are not recommending being a lawyer or a doctor or a dentist? Those are very noble and great career choices of course, but there is a pattern in what they are saying and it’s no coincidence. If you are already a web developer, don’t stop there – ALWAYS keep learning.
It’s not about being the best web developer out there. Look at Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Larry Elison for example; they weren’t the best coders, but look at what they accomplished.
It’s also not about earning the highest salary possible. Strive to do something which is fulfilling to you, something that you truly enjoy. Make a positive difference to others and in doing so you will feel rewarded.
Don’t sit back and let the years go by. Keep improving, keep learning, put in the time and the actions and the results will come.
