Print or change page setup


Print a document, spreadsheet, or presentation

You can print Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides using browsers, like Chrome or Safari.

Print in Chrome

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs.
  2. Click File and then Print.
  3. In the window that opens, choose your print settings.
  4. Click Print.
  1. On your computer, open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
  2. Click File and then Print.
  3. Optional: Choose your print settings, like margins or page orientation.
  4. Click Next.
  5. In the window that opens, choose your print settings.
  6. Click Print.

Print a presentation

  1. On your computer, open a presentation in Google Slides.
  2. Click File.
    • Print without changes: Click Print.
    • Adjust orientation: Click Print settings and preview and then click Landscape.
    • Print with speaker notes: Click Print settings and preview and thenIn the toolbar, click 1 slide with notes.
  3. Click Print.
  4. In the window that opens, choose your print settings.
  5. Click Print.

Print in Firefox or Safari

Print your file as a PDF

  1. On your computer, open the document, presentation, or spreadsheet you want to print.
  2. Click File and then Print.
    • Document or Presentation: A PDF file will automatically download.
    • Spreadsheet: In the window that opens, choose your print settings. and then Click Next. A PDF file will automatically download.
  3. When the download completes, open the file.
  4. In your PDF viewer, go to File and then Print.
  5. In the window that opens, choose your print settings.
  6. Click Print.

Print your file in another file format

  1. On your computer, open the document, spreadsheet, or presentation you want to print.
  2. Click File and then Download as.
  3. Select the file format you want.
  4. Find the downloaded file on your computer, and open it.
  5. Print the downloaded file.

Change page setup of a Google Doc

  1. Open a document in Google Docs.
  2. In the toolbar, click File and then Page setup.
  3. Go to the setting you want to change:
    • Orientation
    • Paper size
    • Page color
    • Margins
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Optional: To make new documents open with the settings you chose, click Set as default and then OK.

Zoom or change your document view

You can change how you view a document or spreadsheet, like making the text bigger or hiding the toolbar at the top.
To zoom in a slide, you can use keyboard shortcuts.

Zoom in or out

  1. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs or a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
  2. In the toolbar, click 100%.
    • Choose how big you want your text or enter a number from 50 to 200.
    • In Google Docs, to make the document as wide as the browser window, click Fit.

Change your view

  1. On your computer, open a document, spreadsheet, or presentation.
  2. On the toolbar, click View, then click an option.
    • Compact controls: Hides the menu bar, but leaves the toolbar with a "Search the menus" bar visible.
    • Full screen: Hides the menu and toolbar. To exit full screen, on your keyboard, press Esc or Escape.
    • Print layout: This option is only available in Google Docs. See your headers, footers, and margins between pages as if you’d printed the document.
Note: Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides remember your most recent view. When you change your view, it doesn’t change for anyone else looking at the file.
