They have released the new ISO image of the Arch Linux-based operating system for 64-bit and 32-bit deployments, designed especially for ethical hackers and penetration testers.
The BlackArch version 2016.12.20 adds more than 100 new tools that can be used for ethical hacking needs and several other improvements. They also ship with a new kernel from the Linux 4.8 stable series, version 4.8.13.
Making the announcement, the developers said in a statement, “Today we released new BlackArch Linux ISOs (2016.12.20)! Over 1600 tools, newest kernel, over 6GB per ISO and more! We wish to thank all of BlackArch’s users, mirrors, and supporters. Thanks for your help.”
The improvements in the new BlackArch Linux ISO has brought new versions of all the inbuilt BlackArch tools, a reboot and the issue with the `shutdown of the LXDM display manager has been resolved. Also, the menus of many of the included window managers, such as Openbox, Awesome, and Fluxbox have been updated along with some maintenance done for the userland.
The new version also has a total of 1600 penetration testing tools available in the BlackArch Linux repositories, making it a must-have operating system for ethical hackers and penetration testers.
You can download the new version ISO directly from the project’s website. However, they are only for new deployments. Further, the existing users should update their installations as early as possible.
